NSYSU College of Science Visits the University of Alberta

A delegation from the College of Science at National Sun Yat-sen University (NSYSU) visited the University of Alberta in Canada from July 29 to 30, 2026. The delegation was warmly received by the Office of the Vice-President (International, Innovation and Enterprise), the Faculty of Science, the Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute (Amii), and related research units.

The delegation included Dr. Jyh-Tsung Lee, Dean of the College of Science; Dr. May-Ru Chen, Associate Dean of the College of Science; Dr. Shu-Chen Hsieh, Chair of the Department of Chemistry; Dr. Chien-Cheng Kuo, Chair of the Department of Physics; Dr. Che-Hsin Lee, Chair of the Department of Biological Sciences; Dr. Tsung-Lin Lee, then Chair of the Department of Applied Mathematics; and Dr. Chang-Yi Wu, Chair of the International PhD Program for Science.

During the visit, the delegation was received by Cristian Gonzalez-Paez, Associate Vice-President (Enterprise and Global Partnerships); Dr. Michael Serpe, Associate Dean International Relations in the Faculty of Science; and leaders and faculty members from relevant units. The itinerary included a visit to the nanoFAB Fabrication and Characterization Facility, as well as exchanges with representatives from Amii, the Faculty of Science, and the fields of physics, biological sciences, mathematical and statistical sciences, chemistry, computing science, and metabolomics.

The College of Science at NSYSU sincerely thanks the University of Alberta for its thoughtful arrangements and generous hospitality. The College extends special appreciation to Associate Vice-President Gonzalez-Paez, Associate Dean Serpe, Samuel Ferraz, Acting Regional Manager for Asia Pacific, and the teams at Amii, nanoFAB, and the Faculty of Science. The visit reflected the friendly relationship between the two institutions, and NSYSU looks forward to maintaining close ties with the University of Alberta and further strengthening academic exchange and collaboration.
