NSYSU College of Science Visits the University of British Columbia

A delegation from the College of Science at National Sun Yat-sen University (NSYSU) visited the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Canada on July 31, 2026. The delegation was warmly received by UBC’s Faculty of Science and its related departments and research units.

The delegation was first welcomed by Dr. Curtis Suttle, Associate Dean, Research and External Partnerships pro tem; Dr. Mike Gordon, Associate Dean, Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies; and Dr. James Charbonneau, Associate Dean, Students. The visit included exchanges with representatives from mathematics, statistics, chemistry, zoology, botany, quantum materials, physics and astronomy, computer science, and data science, as well as visits to quantum materials research facilities and laboratories.

The College of Science at NSYSU sincerely thanks Associate Dean Suttle and the UBC Faculty of Science team for their thoughtful planning and assistance throughout the visit. The College also extends its appreciation to Dr. Andrew Rechnitzer, Head of the Department of Mathematics; Dr. Laurel Schafer, Head of the Department of Chemistry; Dr. Sarah Burke, Deputy Scientific Director of the Quantum Matter Institute; Dr. Jeremy Heyl, Head of Physics and Astronomy; and all participating administrators, faculty members, and research teams for their generous hospitality.

The visit reflected the friendly relationship and active engagement between the two institutions. The College of Science at NSYSU looks forward to maintaining close ties with UBC and further strengthening academic exchange, talent development, and interdisciplinary research collaboration.
